Overnight Residential Services Worker - Multiple Locations - $1,000 Sign-On Bonus!

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the assigned Program Administrator, the Residential Services Worker is responsible for providing direct care services to consumers at the residential treatment facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:*

Demonstrates commitment to the mission of the agency with a strong understanding and respect for the goals of agency activities.

Participates as a team member in the support and treatment of the consumers.

Works as part of a team ensuring 24/7 coverage of program as essential personnel.

Performs Certified Residential Medication Aid (CRMA) tasks, including transcription and administration of medications of prescribed orders in accordance to state regulations and guidelines and identified program protocols.

Develops and/or follows consumers' Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) and crisis plan protocol.  Monitors consumers' progress toward achievement of ITP goals.

Develops and plans daily activities depending on the individual needs and desires of the consumers.

Observes and reports changes in the functioning of consumers and modifies daily activities as appropriate, in conjunction with the consumers (and all other interested parties, as needed) and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Models and supports activities related to daily living and community integration. 

Assists consumers in exploring risks and benefits of choices and understanding possible outcomes of decisions.

Transports consumers or arranges for transportation for consumers for matters
related to service delivery (e.g., medical appointments, shopping, banking, food
shopping, etc.) using agency and/or personal vehicle.  (Community Housing Programs Only)

Maintains the consumers' records according to program and agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to daily documentation.

Remains awake and alert, regardless of assigned shift schedule, in order to effectively respond to all housing/consumer needs.

Participates in scheduled meetings, including clinical and administrative supervision and staff meetings.  Seeks additional consultation and/or supervision when needed and as appropriate.

Educates, prompts, supports, encourages and guides consumers.

Effectively collaborates with other service providers in enhancing consumer care.

Completes and submits required documentation in a timely manner and according to policies and procedures.

Participates in training to maintain or enhance job skills.

Ensures that confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with federal, state, and agency standards.

Adheres to the agency's Risk and Safety Management Programs.

Functions in a cost-effective manner with regard to the utilization of time, supplies and other agency resources.

Attends meetings and supervisions as required and necessary for the position.

Promotes and fosters effective relations, both inside and outside of the agency.

May perform other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services related field and/or experience working with persons with acute and severe mental illness preferred. 

Must possess either a MHRT-1 Full (all components active) at time of employment, or be eligible to receive a MHRT-1 Provisional upon hire and subsequently complete and actively maintain all requirements of the MHRT-1 (Full) within initial twelve (12) months of employment.

Must possess a valid State of Maine driver's license and a good driving record in order to be covered under the agency's insurance policy.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Residential environment; may be subjected to unpredictable environments with extremes in noise, odors, etc.

Occasional use of computer keyboards, telephone and operating office machines, requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. 

May perform tasks that include lifting, bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, pushing, climbing stairs, walking and standing while working with consumers.

As weather conditions require, ability to maintain clear access to/from the facility.  This may include removal of snow from porches, stairs, walk/drive ways using manual means, (shovels), or machine operated equipment, post appropriate safety training. 

Uses housekeeping equipment as indicated by work with residents (vacuum, washer, dryer, etc.).

May also work with adaptive equipment (reachers, dressing devices, etc.).

May be asked to operate a motor vehicle in all types of weather.
